SCA Tissue North America is seeking a Paper Manufacturing Asset Manager to provide overall direction for two Paper Machines at our paper mill operations in South Glens Falls, NY. Reporting to the Paper Manufacturing Operations Manager, the Paper Manufacturing Asset Manager will be responsible for ensuring safety of all personnel, maximizing production, and delivering on the short and long term goals of the paper mill and overall facility.
- Responsible for sponsoring safety improvement initiatives and compliance with existing safety rules and regulations. Foster a culture of safe work behavior and encourage safe working practices and conditions in line with OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).
- Responsible for the overall performance, quality and production of the two paper machines. Lead and manage the production initiatives surrounding continuous improvement and Apex programs.
- Develop training and development plans for paper mill employees. Facilitate career growth for leaders and employees. Ensure training is providing qualified and skilled employees capable of effectively and efficiently utilizing the PM assets.
- Be an active part of the work redesign team for the Paper Mill to help drive a successful high performance work system. Lead by example to develop team based ways of working and promote core values of SCA.
- Coordinate production schedules with all personnel involved in the Paper Mill. Optimize production runs and reduce waste. Work with paper planning and logistics to ensure successful machine usage and trim utilization.
- Develop budgets, capital expenditures, and projects in the Paper Mill Area. Lead capital projects in the Paper Mill, directing vendors and contractors as needed.
- Maintain contacts with vendors, suppliers. Initiates purchase requisitions of contracts for equipment, labor and materials. Ensure fiscal responsibility in contract terms.
- BS in Engineering or Management or ten years related manufacturing experience. Preferably a strong background in Tissue manufacturing.
- 7-10 years experience in a manufacturing management environment. Tissue experience highly preferred.
- Computer experience essential, to include proficiency with AS400, SAP, MES, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Needs to posses excellent communication skills. Must be multi-task oriented with the ability to work with constant interruptions.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment and to perform a variety of duties without direct supervision.
- Incumbent is expected to work the hours necessary to complete the job thoroughly. Incumbent must have the capacity and willingness to learn.
- Ability to travel to domestic and international locations occasionally.
